FarmFolk CityFolk: is looking for two interns to work with BFICSS (Bauta Initiative on Canadian Seed Security)- BC region

Terms of the Contract- 5 months

June 15- November 15, 2014

The contract will include:

  • Hands-on experience- working with seed growers and participants in the BFICSS vegetable seed trials program
  • All other aspects of seed work: data collection and recording keeping, creating and disseminating resources, contacting and connecting growers

The interns will shadow and assist the regional coordinator/mentors. Work schedule is flexible and to be negotiated with the coordinators.

Compensation: $2,000 stipend for the season.

Applicants will have knowledge in the areas of food and seed security, together with some experience of growing/farming for food and for seed

SOIL links Canadian farmers willing to take on and train apprentices with folks wanting to work and learn on an organic farm using sustainable practices. We aim to create apprenticeships and internships which transfer lasting knowledge to both the farmer and the apprentice.
